Track My USCIS Case Status

00:10: tracking your first case!

00:13: Open your browser and navigate to www.govtrack.io

00:18: Click the Get Started button to begin.

00:20: Enter your email address.

00:23: Click the Get My Code to receive your unique access code for GovTrack.io.

00:28: Check your email and get your verification code.

00:31: Return to govtrack.io and enter your verification code.

00:35: Click the submit button to verify your email and continue setting up your account.

00:40: You're in! This is your main dashboard that will show you overall progress

00:44: and updates to your USCIS cases.

00:46: Click the USCIS option to start tracking your immigration case status

00:51: Click the add case button to begin entering your case details.

00:55: Search for an existing client, or click the plus button to add a new client.

00:58: If you are an individual, enter your own details.

01:02: A popup to enter a new client will appear. Enter your client's first name.

01:07: Enter your client's last name.

01:10: The rest of the fields are optional. Click the Add Client button to save

01:14: the client's information.

01:16: You will be taken back to continue adding your USCIS case.

01:20: Select the receipt type from the dropdown menu that corresponds to your USCIS case.

01:24: If you don't know it, just select the first option.

01:27: Enter your USCIS Receipt Number. This is the number that USCIS

01:32: assigned to your case. It starts with 3 letters, followed by 10 numbers.

01:37: Enter the date the receipt number was assigned. If you don't know, just select today's

01:41: date.

01:42: Enter the Average Processing Time for the expected duration of the case in months.

01:47: If a case is expected to take 3 years, enter 36. If

01:51: you don't know, enter 12. We will notify you if your case goes

01:55: beyond this time frame.

01:57: Click the Add Case button to save your USCIS case details and start tracking

02:01: your case status.

02:03: Click the Check Now button to update and view the current status of your USCIS

02:07: case. We will check this for you automatically going forward and

02:11: notify you of any changes to your case.

02:15: Review your case status, including filing date, processing timeline, and approval

02:19: updates within GovTrack.io. You can view your case

02:23: history. After you receive an update and have reviewed it, click the snooze

02:27: button and we'll notify you next time there is a change.

02:31: Nice job! You have successfully set up your account, added a client,

02:35: and started tracking a USCIS case.
